"One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for 1,000 years. To read
is to voyage through time." Carl Sagan

Your mission is...
Listed on the
Old Sudbury Bookstore Psychology Page website Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People: Po... by Stephen R. Covey
This is a serious work and I believe now that this book will definitely bring
the reader on a journey of self discovery. Some of the methods and lessons will not be easy ones indeed! I particularly like
the idea of creating a mission statement. Stephen Covey obviously has a lot of experience in this area. From anecdotes about
successful companies such as hotels and information technology corporations to personal stories of interactions with family,
friends, and co-workers Covey seems to have all bases covered!
Very fascinating in terms of comparing importance
of a task and urgency of a task. The most important quadrant is important/not-urgent. This is the quadrant that includes preventative
maintenance, spending time with family, exercising, taking care of health and cleaning your office or home. These are the
tasks that will provide the most dividends in the future and reduce the urgent/important task list. The urgent/important tasks
seem to take care of themselves. An example is when a emergency comes up and the workspace is clean and well organized the
emergency can be dealt with quickly and efficiently. -sak

A self help guide extraordinaire!
Listed on the
Old Sudbury Bookstore Psychology Page website Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People: Po... by Stephen R. CoveySo far this book has left me with an optimistic but not an unrealistic
impression. Stephen Covey obviously did his homework and knows the area of self help literature cold. Apparently he researched
literally hundreds of years of self help guides and teachings for his Ph.D. thesis and has taken his work and adapted it to
a sort of best of guide to self improvement. He pulls no punches in this book and is very much "in your face" with all
the hard work that needs to be done. This book does not promise an instant fix for all problems and the author admits
to knowing the methods however he still finds it a struggle sometimes to stick to them. The book does seem very worthwhile
especially when you realize all the research and multiple sources it draws from. There was even an endorsement from Marie
Osmond in the foreword. -sak

Well here we evolve again!
The new streamlined look for our web page is starting to fall across the sub-pages. The extra links and information for
each category will be on a separate page leaving the main category pages uncluttered and easier to get book listings at a
glance. The Old Sudbury Bookstore is also exploring the possibility of having a second affiliate section with Amazon.com.
Once the Amazon.ca seems to be complete this other avenue will be explored. It is an exciting world we live in and it is sure
a privilege to be able to be a part of it. -sak
